I found this handy Autoplay repair wizard which can help you if your drives stubbornly refuse to stop asking you what you want to do when you plug in the device. Unfortunately, it didn't figure out what the problem is in my case - I suspect that the IBM/Lenovo software is responsible. I could call IBM's tech support, but my cell phone minutes are running dangerously low. Perhaps next month, or perhaps I could ask to borrow someone's landline.
