Art Reisman criticizes the Vonage-Verizon verdict and the patent system in general. Although he doesn't come to the same conclusion, it seems like his beef is with patent standards rather than patents themselves.
It's an interesting idea though that patents should be limited to physical things, and that software (and all information products) should be protected by copyright and trade secrets.
